7 November 2014Eric Prydz Unleashes World’s Biggest Hologram Show

At Pebble Events we have helped to put on some pretty impressive light shows in our time, but even we would struggle to top this! International renowned DJ Eric Prydz unleashed the world’s biggest 3D hologram show at Madison Square Garden last month to woo the assembled crowd with a performance like no other.

Called EPIC (Eric Prydz In Concert) the gig was a three-hour showcase, with everything created during that time completely live. The VJs controlling the graphics were working ‘on the fly’ alongside Prydz’s musical journey, with the big man himself playing music that was specifically tailored for the show.

Eric Prydz said -

Every time we do EPIC, I always try to make special EPIC edits and EPIC versions of all the tracks just that show, so musically it's very exciting for everyone, especially the hard core fans.

The ‘Holo-Gauze’ effect is created by using a 20m x 5m screens, which display a number of effects including rotating particles (see the video below), a giant helix and even a speaking head!

Holo-Gauze screens are almost invisible to the naked eye and produce high resolution effects that a simply mind blowing. Stuart Warren-Hill, a composer and video artist who works under the moniker of Holotronica, invented the screens for his own use and has now taken the concept to the next level. Stuart needed a new type of 3D effect for his own electronic shows, so after much tinkering, Holo-Gauze was born.

Stuart Warren-Hill said -

This event is what Holo-Gauze is all about. The combination of invisibility and the ability to work with 3D projection means that large scale floating hologram effects can be created and new dimensions in live performance can be explored – which is why I developed Holo-Gauze in the first place! It’s great to see that others have seized its potential and are pushing the hologram envelope even further.

The technology was used in the summer in Ibiza by both Chase & Status and Hed Kandi, as well as the US TV show Almost Human. Even Michael Flatley has jumped on board and is now using holograms at the London Palladium as part of the new ‘Lord of the Dance’ shows. If successful with the audience, there are even plans for Flately to take the screens on his world tour that starts later this year.

Now we can’t promise you the world’s biggest hologram show, but at Pebble Events we can cater for all your lighting and sound requirements; within reason!
